My family once owned and operated a timber saw mill and timber yard (A J Hughes & Sons). From 12 to 17 years of age most of my holidays were spent working in the saw mill and timber yard with my brother and cousin. Timber has been in my blood for a long time.
I started as a Glazing Apprentice in 1975 and over the last 40 years I have worked in the Glass Industry with experience as a Charge Hand, Estimator, Branch Manager and for the last 20 years with my brother as a business owner dealing with safety, environment and quality systems. I have been on the GANZ executive (Glass Association of New Zealand) for the last 10 years.
Throughout my career I have gained a broad appreciation for sustainability issues and I am passionate about making a difference. I feel privileged to be a Kiwi at the forefront of the timber retrofit and draught sealing market.
